Ann Marie - Carol Stream Office Manager
My career in the dental field started at a young age when I was unsure of which career path I was going to take. I started working as a dental assistant and saw the amazing things that our dentists were doing and that intrigued me to continue learning more. I have been working in the dental field for over 20 years, and I continue to learn new aspects of dentistry daily.
I love working with our patients to be able to accomplish all of their dental treatments. Seeing our patient’s reaction after their finished treatment and how happy they are is so rewarding!
Outside of the office:
I enjoy trying new restaurants, spending time with my family, and attending fitness classes.

My hero will always be my mom. She is the strongest and most positive person I have ever known.

I am a big family person and like to view our patients as an extension of our dental family. The best part of my job is seeing patients’ smile transformations. There is nothing better than seeing someone smile…it’s so contagious!
I really enjoy getting to know patients and building relationships with them. I find people so interesting and regularly chat about patient’s hobbies and lifestyle.
Outside of the office:
I’m a huge soccer fan and love to watch live games with my family and friends. I love traveling and exploring new places too.

I am the youngest of three siblings and have always enjoyed living in Chicago’s Northwest suburbs. I picked dentistry because it allows me to learn new skills every day – especially from my friends in the office. I have learned to successfully work as part of a team and, more importantly, help our patients improve their oral health.
My favorite part about my job is interacting with patients on a day-to-day basis while developing a strong patient relationship and providing a great experience here in the office. Being fast and efficient has helped me bring value to our team.
Out of the office:
In my spare time, I love spending time with my family and friends, especially my daughter. I also like to try and cook new recipes and bake. I enjoy going to the gym, long walks, and traveling – road trips are my favorite.

I am the middle-child born and raised in Chicago’s Northwest suburbs. My family is of Latin origin, and we all love the delicious food, music, and culture.
When I was a young girl, I said when I grew up I would want to become a dentist. Although I didn’t take that path as a career, I am privileged to work in a wonderful setting at our office. After six years in the customer service industry, I have definitely developed into a people person, which really helps with patient interaction.
The most rewarding part of my job is seeing how our amazing doctors use their abilities to transform smiles.
I try to make patients feel comfortable by welcoming them with my bright smile and friendly personality. I am here to answer any questions and help with any insurance queries too.
Out of the office:
In my spare time, I spend time with family, go into the city with friends, and enjoy the outdoors.
Your Hero:
My hero would be my dad. He has overcome so many obstacles and hardships. He has remained positive through it all and is a wonderful dad.

I am a mother of two wonderful children, Alexis and Francisco Jr. I have always found the dental field to be very fascinating and find it suits my caring, friendly personality. I started in dentistry as a dental assistant and later become a schedule/financial coordinator. Now I am the office manager at our Elgin location. I am a member of AADOM and am HIPPA certified.
I really enjoy seeing the beautiful smiles our dentists create. I love to meet new people and help them find the ideal way to get the smile of their dreams.
Outside of the office:
I like spending time with my family, going to the movies, attending my children’s extracurricular activities, and watching professional sporting events with my family.

My husband and I live in Cary with our two amazing boys and two dogs. I chose to work in the dental field because I really love helping people, and what better way to do that then to help them get a beautiful smile!
I have been with Carol Stream & Elgin Dental Assocaites since 2000. My dental career began as a dental assistant, which provided me with a great amount of clinical knowledge. Now, as I work on the administrative side, I can apply that knowledge when helping our patients understand their treatment needs and navigating their insurance benefits.
As the Insurance and Billing Specialist, I enjoy getting to know our patients on a personal level and helping them better understand how their dental benefits work and how they can use them to obtain the smile they want. I genuinely care about each patient and make it my priority to ensure they have the best possible experience at our offices.
Outside of the office:
I enjoy doing anything outdoors, so in my free time that is where you’ll find my family and me. When that’s not possible, I find DIY projects to complete.

I was born and raised in Illinois, although I do come from a family with a Hispanic background. I am the youngest and the only girl of two siblings. I have been providing customer service since I was 16 years old.
I have always been amazed by the healthcare environment, so being part of it and helping others is something I enjoy doing! Being part of an amazing team and learning new things on a daily basis have been very rewarding for me. Also, seeing our patients’ smile transformations from the amazing work our Doctors and Hygienist do brings enlightenment not only to the patients but everybody in the office!
I aspire to make patients feel welcome and comfortable in the office as well as answering any questions and helping them understand their insurance.
Outside of the office:
I’m currently attending college, and out of school hours, I keep myself busy by staying physically active. I am very adventurous and love to explore new places. I also do enjoy cooking for my family.

Maribel - Serving Carol Stream & Elgin
I am one of five children and grew up locally in Elgin, IL. I started in dentistry very young. I worked in a dental office while studying at High School and have been in the industry I love ever since. I previously worked at the front desk before becoming a dental hygienist.
Dentistry gives me a sense of accomplishment. I enjoy educating patients about their oral health and developing long-lasting friendships. I strive to relate to my patients and show that I genuinely care about their dental needs.
Seeing the transformations in all aspects of dentistry from periodontics to cosmetic dentistry is truly rewarding.

Shenika - Serving Carol Stream & Elgin
I am a first generation Jamaican, born in Chicago and raised in Schaumburg. I didn’t grow up knowing the importance of going to the dentist. However, when I learned about the impact of dental health, I wanted to tell everyone! This was my main motivation but I also credit my Grandfather. I loved spending time with him and one of our special moments was when we would brush our teeth together, so this also spurred me on to become a hygienist.
I love helping people in any way I can. Being able to get to know people and help them improve their health is truly the best part of my job. I strive to be genuine, caring, and friendly with all my patients, which has led to the formation of long-lasting relationships.
I studied Dental Hygiene at Harper College and graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville with a Bachelors in Biological Science/Medical Science and a Minor in Chemistry. I enjoy working at both our Carol Stream and Elgin offices.
Out of the office:
I am a very active person. I’m currently learning to swim and enjoy dancing, playing sports, and board games. I love to spend time with my family and go to the movies.

My mother. As a single parent, she raised me and my younger brother. She worked very hard to make sure we both graduated from college and became successful.

I grew up in Southern Illinois before moving to the Chicago suburbs about three years ago. I am passionate about helping people and health, so a career in dentistry was ideal. I am now a licensed dental hygienist with certification in local anesthesia and nitrous oxide.
I love to improve the oral health of my patients through education and a positive patient experience.
Seeing the results from before and after treatment is amazing! One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is when a patient leaves with the confidence to smile again. As an outgoing and empathetic person, I understand and relate to each patient and work to meet his or her individual needs.
Out of the office:
I enjoy my free time skiing, biking, and hiking with my dog. I absolutely love being outside in nature!

Elvira - Dental Assistants Manager
I was born in Mexico and came to the U.S. at the age of seven. I was once afraid of the dentist and chose dentistry to overcome my fear and help others to do the same. Since then, I have fallen in love with the industry I have spent over 18 years in.
The best part of my job is the unity of our team. We all share the same common goal of giving our best and keeping our patients’ interests at the forefront of our minds. You’ll always experience high-quality dentistry in our offices and will be made to feel comfortable.
I enjoy seeing happy people and do what is within my power to make sure all patients have a pleasant dental visit.

I enjoy photography, outdoor walks, running, and crafts. I also like to take road trips and go to the beach.

Although I don’t have specific heroes the people, I most admire are Martin Luther King and Mahatma Gandhi. They made many sacrifices and were dedicated to their cause. Their legacies and wisdom have helped many people to live better lives.

Nisveta - Dental Assistant
Originally from Bosnia, I started in dentistry with aspirations to become a dentist. Since moving to the U.S., I have become a dental assistant with training in CAD/CAM technology, coronal polishing, sealants, and CPR.
Beautiful teeth and smiles always inspired me. I wanted to combine my love of science with my artistic flair; dentistry is the perfect fusion of the two.
I feel very fortunate to work at such an amazing practice. I have enjoyed assisting in specialties such as periodontics, orthodontics, and general dentistry but truly enjoy CAD/CAM same-day crowns design the most.
I like having the ability to see changes in our patients’ oral health and improve their smiles.

Jackie - Dental, Surgical, & Orthodontic Assistant
I grew up in the town of West Chicago. I still currently live at home with my parents to save money so I can hopefully move out with my boyfriend. Ever since I was little, I have been interested in dentistry and started in the industry as a technician. I began by scrubbing equipment but have gained the skills, training, and experience to become a multi-specialist assistant.
I attended Everest Dental School for basic training and continue to develop my knowledge through continuing education courses. I am certified in coronal polishing and sealants.
I have always been very proud of my own oral hygiene (no cavities) and love seeing the transformation that can be achieved in the dental chair. I find the end result of what we do so rewarding!
Outside the office:
If I’m not in front of a painting, I’ll be found out in my backyard playing with my dogs!
Your Hero:
I have two heroes, and they don’t wear capes – my mom and dad. They have shown and taught me all the lessons I’ve needed to know. I’ve seen the struggles they have constantly powered through, to come out at the end with a smile and determination.

Beatriz - Dental, Surgical, Orthodontic, & Pediatric Assistant
I am originally from Elgin and am part of a family of nine siblings with a Hispanic background. My sister worked in dentistry before I did and told Dr. Katris about me when she decided to move out-of-state.
After graduating high school, I joined the dental practice and received in-office training. Since then, I’ve become certified for coronal polishing, placing sealants, CAD/CAM crowns/onlays design, and assisting with nitrous oxide.
I have experience working as a multi-specialist assistant in various avenues of dentistry including periodontics, pediatrics, orthodontics, and oral surgery. I have been at Carol Stream & Elgin Dental Associates for over 16 years, so it has become a second home to me.
I love how caring and gentle our team is with patients and how we treat everyone like family. I really enjoy what I do, especially providing quality service to every patient.
Outside of the office:

Marcela - Dental & Orthodontic Assistant
I was raised in Palatine and Streamwood, IL. I have a twin sister and am the oldest of four. I moved to Elgin in 2006 with my husband, and we now have a young son.
I started working at a nursing home when I was 16 and gained valuable customer service experience. I then started working on the front desk at my dental office. I began training as a dental assistant and fell in love with my work. I have been with Carol Stream & Elgin Dental Associates for over 13 years and love helping Dr. Katris with our patients.
I am currently the Head Orthodontist Assistant to our two wonderful orthodontists, Dr. Valente and Dr. Patel. I continue to learn so much from our entire team and love passing on this knowledge to our patients.
Outside of the office:
For the most part, my free time is spent with my son who loves to play baseball, golf, and just be outdoors. I enjoy time with my family and love to go visit my grandparents, aunts, and uncles in Colorado.

Anel - Dental, Orthodontic, & Pediatric Assistant
My name is Anel and I am the second oldest of four siblings. Although I grew up in Elgin, Illinois, my family’s hometown is in Jalisco, Mexico.
After being a patient in orthodontic treatment I was amazed by the amount of flexibility and possible ways for a person’s smile to change. After ending treatment I knew I wanted this to be my career. My motivation is to learn more and more everyday and to better inform the community to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
I started at Elgin Dental Associates (my first ever job!) and couldn’t be happier. The best part of being a dental assistant is getting to know each patient as an individual and developing new friendships. I am a very organized person so do my best to be on top of everything to help the team – we are one big family.

In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family, attend concerts, and am also game for an adventure.

Lauren - Dental & Pediatric Assistant
Born and raised in Illinois, I am the oldest of three (two much taller brothers) and have a love for knowledge. I have experienced all types of working environments. From, teaching softball lessons, cleaning office buildings, being in the food industry, to nannying and working three customer service positions at once. I have had my fair share of excitement. But, when I started work at Carol Stream Dental Associates, I never knew I could be exposed to such a beautifully bright, enthusiastic, hard-working team who would teach me so much more.
I am currently in nursing school, striving to absorb as much new information as possible. I am ambitious and passionate about finding the best ways to help everyone. So, I am here to help with all of your dental needs, and, one day, medical needs!
Outside of the office:
I like to stay active. My go-to things to do are seeing new movies, exercising, and reading. I also look forward to playing sand volleyball in the summers and paintballing.

I was fortunate enough to accomplish some things from my bucket list, which include, skydiving and traveling Europe. I would do them again in a heartbeat.

Julia - Dental & Pediatric Assistant
I was born in a small town on the Northeast side of Poland. I moved to the States when I was five and spent a lot of time moving from place-to-place. I have two siblings and an adorable fat black and white kitty.
I previously worked in the food industry in Chicago and learned a lot about customer service, which helped me when I took the step into dentistry. I enjoy helping people and have had various volunteer roles such as feeding the homeless.
I moved into dentistry when I relocated to Carol Stream. I wanted to go to school in the field and started as a receptionist at Carol Stream Dental Associates. Since then I have become qualified as a dental assistant and enjoy helping my community. I am a positive and empathetic person so always want to see people smile.
I’m constantly being taught and love learning new methods of patient care.
Outside of the office:
I value spending time with my boyfriend and my family. I love watching comedies, painting, rock climbing, bike riding, and the outdoors.

A cat. Not only because I love them but because they are observant and know exactly what they want.

Cindy - Dental Assistant
I am the youngest and only girl in my family. I have two brothers and have spent my whole life in Lombard. I have always enjoyed helping people and found a love for dentistry while working at a pediatric office. I really enjoy learning about different treatments and trying new things every day.
Getting to help people and seeing how happy patients are when they see the results is truly rewarding. I have previously worked as an insurance coordinator but find so much satisfaction as a dental assistant. Helping people achieve their dream smile is wonderful!
Outside of the office:
I love to be with my family. In my spare time, I enjoy shopping and cooking. Most of all I love coming home to my two dogs!
What is your spirit animal?
My spirit animal would be a dog. They have such amazing personalities that no matter what type of a day you’re having, they will always bring a smile to your face. I believe they are a human’s best friend.
